Silver Morning, diptych

I find that when I’m looking for a bit of peace, a moment of serenity, my go-to place is almost always the beach.

One early morning, I walk to the shore, there’s a light mist today, a silky sheen that has wrapped everything in sight, and reduced all colours into a golden-silvery hue. I’m entranced by the (lack of!) colour in the ocean, a shallow sand bank has formed and seems to invite me in. The tiny wavelets come from all sides and cross over each other, making mesmerizing patterns in their passage. I take off my shoes and roll up my trousers. I find its call irresistible. The cool water laps at my ankles as I wade in. I close my eyes and take in the splashing sounds of the water that surrounds me, the gentle squealing of the seagulls in the distance. The sea breeze.

All is well, I’m ready to start my day.
