My work explores identity, tradition, and place — from intimate portraits to Judaic and Jerusalem-inspired scenes.
Each painting is created slowly and intentionally, with the aim of capturing not only likeness, but essence.
My works hang in private collections worldwide and are commissioned to mark life moments, legacy, and belonging.
I have been commissioned by many of Gibraltar’s key figures, including Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, outgoing Governor Ed Davis, and Mayor Carmen Gomez, as well as important figures in Gibraltars Business Sector.
More recently, I've made Aliyah, and now, living in the Holy Land I'm focused on subjects that I feel a spiritual connection with; bringing to life the likeness of some of the most important Rabbinical figures of our times, memorializing fallen heroes of the IDF, as well as Jewish scenes or landscapes steeped with history and meaning.

When Benjamin asked if he could portray me I was still in early recovery, but could not deny him his artistic expression. There were ideas how to approach it but I have the creativity of piece of wood and could only just allow him his freedom of expression. When he unveiled it to me I was instantly physically weak and emotionally overwhelmed. I lost my son Joe in 1990. He died as a result of a mid-air collision. He was flying a Tiger Moth and my favourite photo of him was one of him sitting in his cockpit, smiling and waving.
In 2018 I commissioned Benjamin Hassan to paint this picture and the result gives me pleasure and joy every day of my life. He is there every day to say good morning to.
Benjamin is undoubtedly hugely talented and certainly his portrait of Joe has brought my son to life, but he is also a wonderful human being, sympathetic and accommodating, and a pleasure to do business with.

Benjamin was very professional from day 1 and understood straight away the emotions and expressions we wanted for the painting to show. Baba Sali has been painted by many artists around the word as he was a major rabbi of his time.
